I read the article entitled, 'A simple smile can make all the difference' with amazement.
It is true that Islam teaches us to be pious and compassionate but I thought there was a huge generalisation on mosques. Most mosques are very open to the younger generation and not 'run by old bearded gentlemen' as your article mentioned.
If the young are not interested in turning up to regular prayers then the older generation must continue to manage things. Most mosque members would welcome more involvement from the young and actively encourage them to attend. That would certainly put a smile on everyone's faces.
