SHAKERS played their part in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Southend United at Gigg Lane.
The Shakers twice came from behind to level the scores as Southend showed why they are favourites for promotion.
Peter Farrell, Andy Rowland and Bill Tucker were on the scoresheet to cancel out goals from Mick Loverick and Colin Morris (2).
Danny Wilson, Brain Stanton and Farrell were a revelation in midfield as they belied their ages to run the midfield and supply promising striker Paul Hilton with the ammunition he needed.
Meanwhile, the reserves lost 4-1 to a Liverpool side that contained Johnson, Fairclough, Jones and Orgrozovic.
The goal was scored by Felix, who has been released on a free transfer by Leeds United.

NOTTS County held the Shakers to a 3-3 draw in a game Bury should've won easily.
The Shakers were 3-1 up with 15 minutes left but mistakes by Kirk let County back in the game.
Plant did have a goal ruled out for off-side but there can be no excuses for this terrible waste of points.
Gleadall had given Bury the lead from a corner and then an own goal from Johnston made it 2-0. County pulled one back before Lovell scored the third in front of 12,268 fans before Bury hit the self-destruct button.
Meanwhile, Bury Colts beat a German Youth XI 8-2 at Gigg Lane.
H Wilson (2), Baldwin (2), Hall, McLoughlin (2), Turner were the scorers and the team was: Wilson, Campbell, Coward, Hall, Staniway, McIlroy, Baldwin, Wilson (H), Sydall, Turner, McLoughlin.
