LR edged the big local derby against Atherton Colls on Monday.
On a hard, lively playing surface, the first half was a typical end of season affair with both defences in control and neither goalkeeper being really threatened.
After a dour opening 45 minutes it was a blank scoresheet but the second period was far more interesting.
Colls took the lead on 53 minutes when defender Gary Massey fired home a superb volley from 20 yards giving the LR keeper no chance.
Instead of building on the goal it seemed to give the visitors a greater incentive and on 58 minutes Steve Wynne equalised with a shot from five yards with the Colls rearguard in disarray.
Worse was to come for Colls on 65 minutes when a cross into the penalty box from the left wasn't cleared and Jason Kay scored from close range. Colls had a number of chances late on to equalise but poor finishing let them down.
Colls will certainly have to play better in their last league game of the season this Saturday when Ramsbottom United visit Alder House.
