PEOPLE in Morecambe are to be given a lesson in how to wash their hands...
Proper washing is the way to a clean bill of health, says Lancaster City Council's environ-mental health team.
And it is to hold a 'workshop' to drive home the message that people should always scrub up before eating.
It will take place in Morecambe's Arndale Centre tomorrow (Friday) after a record 286 cases of food borne illness were reported to the team last year - one in five of them involving children under 10.
Health chiefs say proper hand washing is one of the most effective ways of preventing the spread of diseases and food poisoning.
Residents taking part will have their hands covered in gel and then be asked to wash it off. A special UV light will show how well they have been washed.
