A SPIRITED second half performance brought Hoppers a well deserved win over LSH who will accompany them in North One next season, writes Les Anson.

Hoppers were denied a try in the first minute through a forward pass and fell behind to a penalty and an unconverted try.

A well worked try scored by Adam Dockray reduced the arrears to 8-5 at the break.

LSH scored again on the restart with another unconverted try but Hoppers then took control.

Number 8 Richard Morton and scrum-half Chris O'Toole were the catalysts and the arrears were reduced to one point with a fine try by Sengili Tuihlamaka who also added the conversion. Hoppers kept up the pressure and more fine handling brought a try for Adam Fletcher with Tuihalamaka again adding the extra points.

Hoppers may be down but they are by no means downhearted with a committed performance like this.

The season draws to a close on Saturday when Fylde are the visitors to Lightfoot Green for a 3pm kick-off.

Final scores: Liverpool St Helens 13
