VALE of Lune followed up a 52-7 romp at Kirkby Lonsdale on Good Friday with another seven try haul at home to Penrith.

Similarly, Paul Mclaren-Dorrington and Ben Clarkson enhanced their claims for the future in a mobile Vale pack, while replacement Aiden Doherty made an instant impact when he joined the action in the second half.

Vale played with great flair from the start of the match with thrilling tries from Andy Miller and Adam Smith, both converted bny Miller.

But they were unable to shake off tenacious opponents, who came back with 12 points of their own to make it 14-12 at the break.

Touchdowns by Doherty and Neil Bennetts extended the lead early in the second period but once again Penrith dug deep to come back with two tries of their own to leave the scores at 24-22 with some 17 minutes remaining.

This was when Vale finally took over to finish with a flourish - with two tries from Kevin Gardner and one from Phil Watson, all converted by Miller for a 45-22 final score.
