PRESTWICH'S "green army" is looking for new recruits to help clean up Drinkwater Park.
As an extension of the deep clean initiative for Prestwich, Bury Council is appealing for volunteers to get their hands dirty in local parks.
First on the list is Drinkwater Park which will be given a spring clean over three days next week.
Volunteers are needed for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (April 19, 20 and 21) next week, and they will be provided with safety and protective gear, litter pickers and a daily picnic to keep up their energy levels.
The team will meet each day in the car park at the bottom of Rainsough Brow, near the mini roundabout.
The deep clean initiative has already proved popular in Prestwich with a number of areas spruced up with the help of local residents and Bury Council's deep clean team.
Chairman of Prestwich area board, Coun Keith Grime, said: "People living and working in Prestwich are proud of the area and have really got behind keeping our place clean. If we can do the same with our parks then I'm all for that, and I'll be getting my wellies ready to help out."
