NIGEL Heaton kicks off a second spell as Chorley captain in ambitious mood.
Following Jim Fazackerley's retirement at the end of last season, Heaton leads his side into a Northern League campaign he hopes will finish with silverware.
Heaton said: "Every time you go out and play you go out to win so there's no reason why Chorley can't win the league.
"If you were a betting man you wouldn't put money on it but it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that we could be league champions and maybe win a trophy as well.
"We'll certainly be looking to be up there and be in the top half. We have a young side but the younger players need to deliver.
"A lot of them were new to the first team last year but they're a bit more mature now. Rather than making the numbers up and being seen as promising they need to deliver now, You can't keep picking people in the hope they will be good in three years.
"It's man's game and the need to perform like men and I'm confident some of them will."
One youngster sure to be exciting the crowds at Victory will be Nicky Woods, the Lancashire academy player who made 90 in his first team debut last season and can also bowl left arm leg spin.
Chorley, with Pakistani Stephen John returning as pro, begin their campaign at home to Preston tomorrow.
