BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness today called for a show of unity as Rovers gear up for what is arguably their biggest home match in almost a decade.
Ewood Park will stage its most important game since Rovers famously beat Newcastle United during their march to the Premier League title in 1995 when struggling Leicester City are the visitors for a crucial relegation six-pointer tomorrow.
And Souness has pleaded with the club's loyal army of supporters to get right behind his players as Rovers aim to take a giant step towards safety by winning at home for the first time in almost five months.
"This is the time for everyone to pull together - that's what tomorrow is all about," said Souness.
"It's vital game for us and everyone knows what they have to do.
"We have to win tomorrow, it's as simple as that. It's a must-win game for us.
"Forget everything else that's happened this season, we can only look forward now.
"The time for recriminations and finger-pointing is at the end of the season.
"Right now, it's all about our next five games and we may need to win at least two to stay up.
"We can't complain about the support we've been given off our fans this year.
"It's been a frustrating season for everyone connected with Blackburn Rovers and I'd like to reassure our supporters that the players share their frustrations.
"But this is a game we desperately need to win and the players have got to feel the fans are with them."
Rovers got booed off when they crashed to their 10th home defeat of the season at the hands of Leeds last week.
But a battling performance at Fulham on Monday night breathed new life into their survival bid.
And Souness knows another victory at Ewood tomorrow would open up a nine point gap between Rovers and Leicester at the bottom.
"We showed a lot of character against Fulham on Monday night and we need more of the same from the players and more of the same from the fans," added the Rovers boss.
Meanwhile, Rovers' chief executive, John Williams, has underlined the sense of unity by telling Souness his job is safe as the club battles to stay in the Premiership.
"Graeme has two years left on his contract," said Williams.
"It's easy to focus on what's gone wrong rather than remember the last three years.
"We have had silverware, European qualification, have twice been in the top half of the table and had a promotion.
"This is just a difficult year."
In the meantime, Souness has named a 20-man squad for tomorrow's game.
Rovers are likely to start with a similar side to the one which defeated Fulham but Brett Emerton may return in midfield.
