BLACKPOOL councillors need to get their comedy act together.

In recent years they have ignored police advice on the numbers of hard-to-control nightclubs in the town centre. Leading Conservative councillors shouted me down when I suggested we attract more family visitors with a northern Eden Centre.

Labour councillors say stop asking for family attractions as Blackpool is more interested in adult entertainment.

They prove this by encouraging unlimited numbers of massage venues, bookies, lap-dancing clubs, slot machines and escort girls and boys. They engineer a situation where selling tat to drunken idiots is the only profitable retail opportunity.

Then they issue false and misleading statements to the national media that the council has banned tat from shops. In fact this has not been debated or decided at any council meeting.

The BBC's comedy drama about Blackpool's 'entertainment proposals' will not be as funny as the real-life antics on Blackpool Council.
