I SYMPATHISE with some of the views expressed by Mrs Sheila Meakin in the Bury Times regarding the untimely death of her murdered son. She is right to say that the people of Ramsbottom should learn tolerance and mutual respect.
However, people are fed-up of having their cars stolen and homes burgled and, by Mrs Meakin's own admission, her son was "no angel".
The four defendants in this case were criticised for taking the law into their own hands, and quite rightly so. But in my view this was a tragedy waiting to happen. Before long someone else's son or daughter would have been targeted for retribution, so let's hope that everybody learns from this terrible tragedy and in future shows tolerance and respect, not only for each other but also for their property.
CONCERNED CITIZEN,
Ramsbottom.
