POLICE and bosses at Turf Moor are appealing for fans not to invade the pitch at the end of the season.
The club have issued the call ahead of the final fixture against Sunderland on Sunday, May 9.
Pitch invasions following the last match of the season have become a tradition at the Turf over recent years, although police say the problem has reduced in the last two seasons.
A police spokesman said: "We and the club are keen to ensure that fans do not risk their safety and the safety of others by running onto the pitch at the end of this match, the final home league fixture of the season.
"Although going on to the pitch has become something of a tradition over recent years, we would like to remind fans that this is an offence for which action can be taken, including arrest.
"It has also been apparent this encroachment is disapproved of by the majority of supporters.
"The Police, the club, safety inspection team and especially the players, will be doing their best to make sure it is a safe, enjoyable and memorable match."
