A RELIEVED owner has been reunited with her pet parrot after a fire crew had to rescue it from a tree.
Moses, an African Grey parrot, escaped from the home of Elaine Sullivan when she was gardening yesterday afternoon.
It is not the first time the 16-year-old bird has escaped. He now needs medication to treat a cold he contracted when he escaped ten-years-ago.
Elaine said: "I went out to water the plants and I heard the back door bang and I looked up in the sky and saw him flying past."
Worried Elaine and her partner John Kershaw went searching for Moses.
At 6.30pm, Elaine was shouting the bird in Healey Wood, Burnley, when she saw it stuck in a tree in Mosley Road.
Elaine said: "I was shouting the bird when he answered. I tried to get him to come down but he was frightened. I kept shouting and a few people came out.
"I knew we had to get him down or I would never see him again as he would not survive the night.
"The fire brigade came and used a Cherrypicker machine to rescue Moses."
