AN open weekend has been held at a Nelson church which was closed for two years for refurbishment. Southfield Methodist Church was closed in 2001 when it was discovered that the building needed a new roof.
Parishioners had been meeting in the Shooters Arms pub while the work, which was completed last year, was being carried out.
The church invited visitors to view the refurbishment and redecoration of the building over the weekend and a service of rededication was held on Sunday afternoon.
