A MAN who persistently steals from cars to fund his drug addiction has been remanded in custody after his latest offence.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Keiran Chatburn had numerous previous convictions for theft from motor vehicles and the most recent offence came less than two weeks after he had been given a conditional discharge.
Chatburn, 25, of Hammond Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to stealing a CD player and multi changer worth £500. He was remanded in custody until April 30.
Another case of theft has already been adjourned for assessment for a drug treatment and testing order and both matters will be finalised on the same date.
John Wood, prosecuting, said the car had been left on a car park and when the owner returned a rear window had been smashed and the property removed. The victim is understandably annoyed that something she has worked for and paid for should be stolen like that," he added.
