I KNOW Traffic on the by-pass can be bad, but it's worse than I imagined.
I decided to leave my return trip from Lowton until after the rush hour and set off from St Helens Road at 6.20pm.
Not only had the horrendous temporary traffic lights returned outside the Robin Hood after a temporary respite, but I turned into Atherleigh Way to be met by a wall of traffic waiting to approach kamikaze island at Twist Lane -- what must be the Metro's craziest island. Numerous impatient motorists in front of me completed U turns but I decided to stick it out just to see how long it would take me to reach Kirkhall Lane -- an amazing 25 minutes, the time it used to take me to get home.
Traffic lights would surely be an improvement. They couldn't be any worse.
