REFERRING to Lancashire County Council's "Welcome to Lancashire" signs (LET, April 17) perhaps these should say "Welcome to Planet Zog," for that is surely where the politicians live who concocted this item of spending.
Highways chairman Coun Jean Yates' insistence that Unitary Authorities are not part of Lancashire is the cock-eyed view of someone who sees boundaries in terms of political control, with no regard for geography, culture or history.
And if she says we are not in Lancashire, then she must state in which county we really exist.
The sad thing is that there are more pressing areas on which money could be spent. One can only hope that her electorate at some time offer an enforced sabbatical, so that she might get out more.
