A GRANDMOTHER from Nelson met up with the optician who saved her from a potentially blinding eye disease.
Ellen Bryon, 65, from Marsden Hall Road North, was diagnosed with an abnormality with blood vessels at the back of the eye when having a routine eye test last year.
Specsavers optometrist, David Cleasby, spotted the condition - which can lead to blindness - and referred her to hospital.
Mrs Bryon was able to receive specialist laser treatment to stop the disease spreading.
