BURNLEY MP Peter Pike has made a Commons call for a full public inquiry into the death of Christopher Alder in a Hull police station in 1992.
The former paratrooper choked to death and a CCTV video, in which several police officers were seen present while Mr Alder was on the floor, was last week shown in BBC TV's programme Death on Camera.
For the past six years his sister Janet, who lives in Burnley, has been campaigning for a probe to find out what happened.
Now Burnley MP Peter Pike has raised the issue once again at Westminster.
He has put down a Commons Motion which goes on to say: "I believe that all the circumstances that led to his death that night should be fully considered by a public inquiry also involving all subsequent actions by the Police Complaints Authority, Crown Prosecution Service and others since that date. An inquest verdict of unlawful killing cannot be reconciled with no action being taken against the police involved.
"I congratulate Janet for never giving up the fight for a public inquiry."
