METROLINK travellers will soon have a new "stop".
For a brand new Metrolink Visitors' Centre is being created at the new "One Piccadilly" office development at Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester and is scheduled to be completed by the autumn.
The centre will also embrace a Travelshop and facilities for Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive's bus station supervisors.
When it is open the Metrolink Visitors' Centre will provide up-to-date information on the current and future system network.
Design works for the project have been completed and tenders have been submitted by contractors for the fitting out of the new units.
Councillor Andrew Fender, chairman of Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority's policy committee, said: "Piccadilly has the busiest Travelshop in the whole of Greater Manchester with about 750 people taking advantage of its information and ticketing facilities every day.
"By integrating the Travelshop and new Metrolink Visitors Centre, along with a bus station supervisor's office, at a central location like One Piccadilly, travel information will be even more accessible for members of the public.
"I look forward to seeing these two new important developments take shape over the next few months.
"They are going to be a tremendous long term asset for public transport users."
