THE National Union of Teachers gave a promise that no child taking examinations in East Lancashire that summer would be hit by a planned campaign of industrial action.
Meanwhile part of the GEC complex at Clayton-le-Moors was to close, but no jobs were to be lost with 29 workers being offered jobs at Accrington.
