AN inquest has been opened into the death of Heather Schofield, the 26-year-old teacher who died during a dive of the coast of Southern Ireland.
The inquest heard that the Deputy Coroner for Kerry will also be holding an inquest into the death of Miss Schofield, of Whalley Road, Hurst Green. A post mortem examination has already been carried out and police in Ireland are still investigating the incident.
Miss Schofield was with an organised party diving off Bulls Island near the Dingle peninsula. The alarm was raised when she failed to surface but her body was later found on the sea bed.
The Blackburn hearing was adjourned until May 25.
