Golborne Parkside 42 Higginshaw 6: GOLBORNE Parkside finished their season in fine style by hammering third placed Higginshaw 42-6.
Having secured the championship the weekbefore, Golborne rested several of their regular first team forwards giving first team debuts to Neil Muir and U18s half backs Stuart Arkwright and Tommy Smith.
After early pressure Golborne took a 2-0 lead with a David Hindley penalty goal and three minutes later they made it 8-0 when second row James Byrne crashed over for a try converted by Hindley. Higginshaw fought back with a converted try.
But this only spurred Golborne in to further action and when Stuart Naylor crashed over from another set move for a try converted by Hindley.
Higgenshaw lost their discipline and two penalty goals from David Hindley made the half time score 18-6. Golborne introduced Tommy Smith and Stuart Arkright for their first team debuts and they immediately injected life into the game. Captain for the day Zac Patterson scored a try and Andy Simms two more.
With time running out prop Gareth Sherman, who hadn't scored all season, out-stripped the opposition to get over.
Man of the match was Andy Simms with Kevin Coward second and Ryan Kelly third.
