A RADCLIFFE pub is joining a growing band with a no-smoking room for drinkers.
Landlord Mel Howarth, and his wife Carol, of the Railway on Ainsworth Road, decided to close part of their pub to smokers during a recent revamp.
The back room of the popular watering hole has been re-decorated, and green smoke-free signs put on the walls. But smokers will not be left out, as the couple have been brightening the rest of the pub.
Mrs Howarth said: "People have been using the room, and smokers have been staying out of it. We thought it would be a nice idea for people who like to visit the pub but don't want to sit in a smokey atmosphere.
"We decorated the room to make it brighter, and now the whole pub is being done. People know now that they can still go for a night out in Radcliffe even if they don't want to go somewhere with smoke."
In Ireland, a total ban on smoking in pubs, restaurants and other enclosed workplaces, came into effect last month.
