NEW guides have been released for ramblers to enjoy two of Blackburn and Darwen's most popular country walking spots.
And the six guides for Witton Weavers Way and Darwen Tower walks are being launched with a guided hike on the Beamers Trail on Sunday, April 25.
The trail begins in picturesque Witton Park, travelling around Billinge Wood, Pleasington, Hoghton Bottoms and along the River Darwen before terminating back at Witton Park Visitor Centre.
The walk is six miles long and classed as easy with some moderate ascents and descents.
Free copies of the set of six walks will be available on the day.
The full colour foldout brochures contain new maps, updated information and new photographs and are an ideal aid to both beginners and experienced ramblers.
The guides are available from Blackburn Tourist Information Centre, Witton Park Visitor Centre, Sunnyhurst
Woods Visitor Centre, Darwen Town Hall Information Centre and through Lancashire's Tourist Information Centre network.
Coun Andy Kay, the council's executive member for regeneration, said: "Both the Witton Weavers Way and Darwen Tower walks take in some of Lancashire's most magnificent countryside and heritage.
"These six new guides provide an excellent opportunity for residents and visitors to discover the great outdoors and explore the meadows, hills, moors and woodlands around Blackburn and Darwen."
Anyone wishing to take part in the walk should meet at Witton Park Visitor Centre at 1pm. Participants can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy prior to the walk from 11.30am.
