ANOTHER one bites the dust. By which I refer to the untimely departure of Big Ron from the commentary box.
Now, unlike others in the same predicament, I think Ron Atkinson is really sorry he came out with those comments. He was quick to distance himself from the lapse in concentration and wanted people to know it was a big mistake.
But the excuses don't count now and no matter how you look at it you can't come out with rubbish like that - if the microphones weren't on, we would never have known.
Things won't be the same, though, as, like many others, I grew up listening to Big Ron as he gave his blunt opinion on hundreds of top games.
Pity then that an apology is so harder to come by from people who have committed more crimes against humanity than Big Ron, Jim Bowen or, for that matter, Robert Kilroy Silk.
Over a year on from the war in Iraq, we're still no closer to finding any WMDs and the guy who found some in Israel is being told he's a traitor to the cause.
Wouldn't it be nice for some senior government figure just to admit that it was all a big mistake and we don't know what the hell to do now? Okay, maybe that's asking too much. Just one Labour councillor would do, please. You might even get the trust of the people back.
Anyway, I may well be leaving you all soon. Recently I got this e-mail from the crown prince of Nigeria's son-in-law's brother's cousin.
He was offering to deposit millions of pounds in my bank account; something to do with him being hunted by members of someone's family and needed to get rid of his money pronto. The e-mail said I had been chosen because of my 'reputation' and 'integrity'. They read the Telegraph in Nigeria?
I decided to reply and ask why they couldn't just post me the money in a large bag. He never replied. I was pretty annoyed at this and wrote again saying I wanted my money. No reply.
It's all a con of course but how stupid do people think we are? If you word things the right way almost anything is believable. Just ask George W Bush.
Talking of rubbish, whoever it was who sent a hand-delivered letter concerning my 'I'm a Muslim and not a terrorist' article a couple of weeks back, please could you deliver it again. I couldn't read your hand-writing and the spelling was atrocious.
