I WISH to publicly thank Cllr Sheila Denwood on behalf of all the ex-servicemen and women of our fair city for her action in getting rid of a 'camp site' that was set up in the city's Garden of Remembrance, directly under Lancaster Town Hall.
This site - which consisted of mattresses, bedding and general mess - was brought to my attention two weeks ago and I informed Mrs Denwood.
I know that she visited the site and took photographs. Now it has been cleaned up and both the city council and police promise they will keep a careful watch on the Cenotaph area to see it does not happen again.
Terry Jackson, Lancaster.
