THERE weren't many happy faces after Lancaster City's final home game of the season on Saturday - a 0-1 defeat by Gainsborough Trinity.
But earlier the Giant Axe was wreathed in smiles as three charities reaped the benefit of the Dolly Blues run in the FA Cup, pictured.
As a result of their journey all the way to Round One proper, where they were only beaten by a last minute goal by Division Three side Cambridge United, City were asked to nominate the charities to share in the payout from the annual FA Community Shield - formerly charity shield - match.
The charities, which each received a cheque for £2,633, were 'A Breath for Life' which aids sick children, the Marsh Community Centre, Lancaster and Morecambe Bay Hospitals Patients Amenities Fund.
o CITY'S presentation ight takes place in the Dolly Blue Tavern next Saturday evening, May 1. All supporters will be welcome
