FOR something a bit different, step into Blackpool's Clubwear 2000 UK, the hotspot for cool clothes.
Boy bands, DJs, singers, strippers and even Covent Garden dancers frequent this alternative clothing specialist shop in Dickson Road, Blackpool, as well as street lads and girls, plus members of the town's gay community.
There are handmade, shot-silk shirts in midnight blue and claret imported from Thailand. If a customer wants one made to his or her own design, that's no problem and costs no extra.
Eye-stopping stagewear includes a sleeveless zip-up tank top and trousers covered in gold-sequins and a fluffy, bubble-gum pink bikini.
The Too Much range combines high-fashion with versatility. Made from lightweight nylon in all kinds of colours, the zipped sidebag sections on one pair of trousers detach to become a vest top. And hey presto, there's another surprise when a rucksack unzips to make a pair of loose pants. Exclusive to Clubwear 2000, is the cutting edge Soul Fusion 'event shoe' from Florida containing a litestick which glows green, yellow, red or blue.
"Many of our items are one-offs," says owner, Ray Osborne. "We try to make sure every one of customers achieves a look which is individual to them."
