A BURNLEY soldier awarded an MBE for his services to the Army took time out of his busy schedule to meet Burnley Mayor Coun Lilian Clark.
Paul Fletcher, warrant officer 1st class in the Royal Logistic Corps, and his family joined Coun Clark in the mayor's parlour at the Town Hall.
Paul, 37, was honoured in the Queen's New Year Honours List for his continuous valuable service at Joint Force HQ.
His role in planning the movement of men and equipment from all three armed services around the globe by road, rail, sea and air, earned him the royal accolade.
Paul, a former St Theodore's RC High School pupil, has recently taken up a new post with the Army's Royal Logistic Corps in Andover where he will continue his work. He now lives in Wiltshire.
Coun Clark said: "It's a pleasure to recognise the achievements of a local lad. They are a fine family and I am delighted that Her Majesty the Queen has honoured Paul in this way. He has clearly carried out outstanding work for the Army over a lengthy period."
