Clarets boss Stan Ternent will regard survival in the First Division as one of the major feats of his management career.
While he has enjoyed promotions with both Burnley and Bury, maintaining the Clarets status this term will be a landmark achievement in Ternent's eyes.
Ternent has been well documented on his feelings about the damage the loss of ITV Digital money, but this week's promotion for Norwich City prompted the Clarets boss to reiterate his argument due to the stark contrast in the respective clubs' fortunes.
"I think if we can stay in the First Division then it will be up there with my best achievements in the game," said Ternent.
"In the light of the financial circumstances it has certainly been a challenge this season.
"Simply the loss of money has been what it is all about over the past three seasons.
"A couple of seasons ago we were pipped for a play-off spot by one goal by Norwich City.
"Norwich were promoted the other night, while we are still fighting to retain our Division One status. We have gone in totally opposite directions and there is only one reason for that - what has happened with finances."
And Ternent will not look towards next season in terms of retaining players or recruiting until the mission has been achieved.
"I cannot look that far ahead," he said. "I can only look at this season and if we can still be in the First Division next season then we can think about the future."
But if the Clarets do stay up, Ternent will give the fans a fair share of the credit for the achievement.
"They have been great and against Wimbledon on Tuesday they certainly helped us," said Ternent.
"It will be another massive game for us again today against Derby and the fans again will play their part.
"Derby will no doubt bring a few more than Wimbledon and I think it will be a great atmosphere for what is an important game for both clubs."
