A DARWEN care centre is planning a new wave of fundraising - in a bid to make enough money to pay for entertainers for its patients!
Arrangements for a summer fair are already under way.
And bosses at the Birch Hall Care Centre are hoping the local community will come to the rescue with plenty of donations to help the good cause.
Organisers of the centre's fair, which will take place on June 27, are urging people to give generously and provide items and prizes for the tombola and raffle.
The 81-bed centre provides 24-hours-a-day care to elderly, vulnerable residents.
But it also has a young disabled unit catering for children from across the area.
All the money made will be used to make sure the centre users - young and old alike - will get plenty of enjoyment and help to improve their social lives.
Ann Holder, from Birch Hall, said: "We want to use the money to provide entertainers, to get them to visit the centre and put on a show. It's not a lot really but it will make all the difference to the centre users."
Any money made from the summer fair will also be used to send the centre users on trips. Ann explained: "Hopefully we can make enough to send them on day trips too, throughout the year."
Organisers of the June event are now asking for unwanted board games, toys and teddies, which can be used for a tombola or raffle.
Ann added: "It would be great to get lots of help and be able to pay for these different things because it will really help the people at the centre."
