LENNY Johnrose is urging Burnley to finish a long hard season with a bang.

The midfield dynamo has played a key role in ensuring the Clarets picked up maximum points from their last two home games to edge within one point of First Division safety.

But far from taking their foot off the gas, Johnrose wants Stan Ternent's troops to power across the line and really give the supporters something to cheer.

Johnrose said: "If I'm telling the truth, I think there's a feeling in the dressing room now that we have finally cracked it.

"You never want to count your chickens too early, but there's only two games to go and it's a tall order for Walsall to win both.

"But ultimately, if we can go to Rotherham and do a job next week, it doesn't matter what anybody else does.

"Obviously I've not been here all season, but I think if the application had been right game in and game out we wouldn't be where we are.

"But in the last two games, when it's been needed, we have got the results and I'd like to think we can go into that final game against Sunderland trying to put on a bit of a show for the fans.

"They have been absolutely brilliant and they need to know that if they keep turning up in their numbers and making noise, it makes such a difference to the lads."

Johnrose admits the past few weeks have been a whirlwind, after leaving Swansea and being thrown into the heat of a First Division relegation dog-fight.

He added: "There were a few raised eyebrows when I signed and understandably so because everyone wants to sign the best players available.

"But as far as I was concerned this wasn't anything particularly daunting. If the gaffer wanted me to play, I was just going in there to do my best.

"In the first couple of games, I wasn't even on the bench and I was wondering what was going on.

"But the gaffer makes the decisions and I have to live by that. He's picked me for the past couple of games and we've won, so everyone is happy."

Meanwhile, Clarets chairman Barry Kilby is hoping relieved supporters will now throw their weight behind the cash-strapped club by snapping up season tickets.

The Turf Moor ticket office processed over 800 applications yesterday to take the number already sold to around 3,500.

In a message to fans, Kilby said: "Now that another season of First Division football is looking extremely likely, I would like to thank all the fans for their magnificent support of the team this season and ask our supporters to vote for Burnley next year and commit to a season ticket.

"It was quite a blow for us when we lost 2,500 of our season ticket supporters for this season and I'm sure you all know that this was one of the main reasons for our financial problems.

"However we've got through and although times will still be hard, the more season tickets we sell, the more can be spent to better the fortunes for the club and the team."

The discount period for season ticket sales ends this Friday.

Burnley fans are warned they now need a ticket for Saturday's game with Rotherham United at Millmoor.

The Millers have designated the game all-ticket, with all remaining tickets now on general sale at the Turf Moor ticket office, which will remain open until 6pm tonight, Thursday and Friday and 7pm on Wednesday.
