PEOPLE taking part in Darwen's first Ghost Walk will be watching out for themselves on TV after it was filmed for a Granada Television documentary.
Crews followed the group of around 40 people around the town for their fly-on-the-wall documentary series Are You Being Served? which focuses on council services.
The documentary's local focus until now has been in Blackburn when film crews followed The Jetting Crew - they unblock the drains in the borough - and made famous faces of employees Pete Trueman and Derek Wilkinson.
Now walk host Simon Entwistle, who is also leading ghost walks in Hyndburn and Blackburn, will be the subject of the programme.
The ghost walk will be shown as one of seven episodes in the next series of the documentary, which begins in July.
Spooky stories featuring a faceless woman and a gruesome moors murder in Darwen will be among the stories gripping those who signed up for the walk.
And Mr Entwistle will be seen wearing his authentic Victorian costume.
He said: "It was really interesting. They interviewed me at home first while I was getting ready for the tour to find out why I did the ghost walks.
"I told them I am really proud of East Lancashire and I was born in this part of the world.
"The national press seem to give it a pretty bad report in terms of tourism but I think industrial mill towns like Darwen have a lot of history and culture which people should know about.
"I owe a lot of success to Jacqui Livesey, the council's tourism officer, who worked very hard to help me with the walks.
"I've been incredibly pleased by the amount and quality of material supplied by local people for the Darwen walk.
"Tourism is important and I've had a lot of overseas visitors on the walks. Blackburn with Darwen Council has been very supportive."
