A 52-YEAR-OLD woman put her "foot in it" after going to the home of her former boyfriend in a drunken state.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Kathleen Jane Dolan kicked through a panel of the UPVC front door. And a police officer who found her sitting on the doorstep had to help release her bleeding foot.

Dolan, of Parkinson Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to causing £400 in damage to the door belonging to Andrew Storrey. She was ordered to pay the amount in compensation.

Tom Snape, prosecuting, said Dolan and the aggrieved had been friends for some time but she was very possessive and Mr Storrey ended the relationship.

"He told her he didn't want her to come to his house any more but she didn't take that very well," said Mr Snape.

"She continued to try and make contact with him and his family, calling at his house and generally making a nuisance of herself."

On the night of the incident, Mr Storrey returned home at around 9.30pm and was reversing into his driveway when he saw Dolan.

"He didn't want any confrontation and drove to Darwen police station to report her presence," said Mr Snape. "He returned to his house and stayed in his car a short distance away waiting for the police."

Ian Holland, defending, said it was tragic when a 52-year-old woman appeared in court for the first time in her life. He said Dolan's husband had died seven years ago and she had sought solace in drink.

She had a six-year relationship with Mr Storrey and when he finished it she again turned to alcohol. "She can't remember what happened but apologises to Mr Storrey and to the court for her actions," added Mr Holland.
