DOUBLE strikes from Matt Jansen and Jemal Johnson ensured Rovers' season ended on a high note at Billingham last night.
It took just five minutes for Rovers to open their account when Johnson capitalised on a defensive lapse and beat former Clitheroe goalkeeper Carlo Nash from 12 yards.
And Rovers were firmly in the driving seat 13 minutes later when Jansen tapped in from close range after Nash could only parry a stinging shot from Johnson.
Boro bounced back with both Michael Ricketts and Jonathan Greening going close but they could not reduce the arreers before half-time.
Rovers made a change at the break with Alex Bruce replacing Michael Taylor in central defence and the visitors were still adjusting when Craig Dove snatched a goal back for Boro following good approach play from Allan Johnston.
However, the two-goal lead was restored within a minute as Jansen cracked a volley past Nash and they extenxed their advantage when Johnson netted from 18 yards.
Rovers keeper David Yelldell produced a couple of good saves to deny Dove but was beaten 12 minutes from time by a Ricketts header.
