THE auditor for the Parish Council has just reported on the Council's Accounts for the year ended March 31, 2003.

The Auditor reported that all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements had been met and there was no cause for concern.

But the Auditor went on to recommend that clear distinctions were maintained between the Parish Council and the three charities for which the Parish Councillors are trustees.

In future, therefore, separate meetings will be held each month for the Parish Council and for the Worsthorne Reading Room Charity.

The meetings will be held on the same evening with the Reading Room meeting occurring first.

LANCASHIRE County Councillor Jean Yates, Cabinet Member for highways and transport, has invited the parish council to the Local Transport Plan Conference on May 6.

Five years ago the County Council ran a similar conference which resulted in considerable investment to Lancashire for bus/rail passenger facilities, road safety projects and cycling schemes.

CHAIRMAN of the parish council Coun Tony Lambert wants to hear from residents' views on the proposal by Burnley Borough Council to remove the changing rooms from Worsthorne recreation ground.

There has been significant vandalism to the changing rooms and the council says it cannot afford to continue to repair the damage.

Although the council has tried to identify whether any team requires the use of Worsthorne recreation ground as a base, none have come forward yet.

Coun Lambert can be contacted on 454501.

THE Borough Council has confirmed that a fresh survey into the use of Worsthorne public toilets will soon begin.

It is hoped it will be able to determine when the toilets are used and whether the information supplied by the parish council regarding use by ramblers, cyclists, taxi drivers, bus drivers, is accurate.
