BURNLEY was one of the districts chosen for an experimental scheme aimed at caring for old people in their own homes.
Lancashire County Council were asked to approve the scheme after a survey in Nelson showed nearly 6,000 people over the age of 65 in the town and over one hundred of them living alone.
