A 38-YEAR-OLD assaulted a man who had an affair with his wife seven years earlier.
Blackburn magistrates heard the affair had ended Ian David Brown's marriage and he had not seen his children since.
His attack on Phillip Chadwick had come when he was in a highly charged state emotionally.
Brown, of Brook Villas, Waddington, pleaded guilty to assault.
The case was adjourned until May 17 for the preparation of pre-sentence reports after the magistrates were told he had two previous convictions for assault and three for harassment. Eddie Harrison, prosecuting, said the incident had taken place at Mr Chadwick's home in Ennerdale Close, Blackburn.
After the two men exchanged words Brown pushed the other against a car.
Mr Harrison said the incident had been captured on closed circuit TV which Mr Chadwick had installed because of previous problems he had with Brown.
Michael Singleton, defending, said the history of the incident went back to 1996 when Mr Chadwick had an affair with Brown's wife.
