VICTORIES for a trio of East Lancashire golfers helped the Rest of Lancashire to a 10-8 victory over Southport last Sunday.
Accrington's Trevor Foster teamed up with Simon Walsh of Bolton to beat Matthew Cox and Paul Bagshaw 2 and 1 in their foursomes match at Ormskirk.
Michael Hunt, of Pleasington, was another foursomes winner by the more convincing score of 6 and 4.
Hunt played with Hart Common's Ken Hudson to score his point against Joel Rodwell and Robert Cannon as Lancashire took the foursomes 4-2.
Rodwell gained revenge on Hunt with a 3 and 2 win in the singles but Nelson's Nick Uttley hit back with a 2 and 1 victory over Mark Howard from Hillside.
County centurion Foster then made it a double on the day with a 2 and 1 win over Stewart King from West Lancs as the singles matches were tied 6-6.
Nick Slade of Pleasington was also in the team, but he went down 7 and 6 to Birkdale's Cox, while he and Uttley lost 6 and 4 in the foursomes to Stuart Sansbury and King.
