PLUCKY Phil Brierley is to raise money in memory of his wife by tackling deep gorges and high passes in deepest Mexico.
Phil, whose wife Sue, 44, died of skin cancer two years ago, recently walked from Land's End to John O' Groats for charity.
Now he has pledged to raise more money for research into the disease.
Phil, of Bolton Road, Darwen, will travel with pal Chris Scholes to Mexico on June 24 to trek The Conquerers Route. They will cover more than 150 miles by foot and raft, trekking through steep canyons, deep gorges and high passes and rafting through cloudforest and mango plantations. Phil, 51, said: " It's going to be a gruelling 10 days.
"We'll be hiking the hidden trails and pine forests of the Mexican sierra before rafting the white waters and class-three rapids of the Antigua River.
"What we really need is sponsorship for the trip to provide equipment, so I'm appealing to local businesses to help us out.
"I also hope local people will sponsor us to raise money to help combat this terrible disease, which robbed me of my wife and our three children of their mum."
Anyone who can help should contact Phil on 07940 291677.
