LOCAL clubs took seven team and eight individual awards at the Presentation when the Mid Lancs League met recently at the Preston Grasshoppers Club.

Gold in the Under 17 Women went to Blackburn Harriers, who dominated this category with four straight wins and maximum 40 points.

Helping towards this excellent achievement were individual gold medallist Emma Graham, winning with a convincing three firsts and a second place and Sophie Croxson, who took bronze.

Also featuring in junior categories were Pendle AC with their first team medals in three years.

The club won silver in the Under 15 Girls and bronze in the Under 13 Girls.

Their star runner Laura Finucane graduated from bronze last season to win the Junior Women's gold medal, while Burnley's Danielle Walker was the individual winner in the Under 15 Girls section with four victories to her credit.

In the sort of sparkling performance that we've come to expect, Clayton le Moor's Mark Aspinall won silver in the very competitive Senior Men's.

In the Over 40 Veteran category the 44-year-old was unbeatable taking the gold easily in fields that have sometimes reached over 140 runners.

Team-mate Phil Hill took the bronze in the same class.

In the Over 50 Veteran division Rossendale Harrier Steve Duxbury scored a maximum winning four times.

Clayton took a total of four senior team medals including silver in Senior Men's Division 1 and Men's Vet 40 Division One and bronze in Men's Vet 50 and Women's Vet 35.

Chorley Harriers' senior women earned promotion after winning the Second Division with their team being made up of Sarah Scarrott, Gwen Farnworth, Claire Goulden, Lisa Unsworth and Diane Ridd.
