WHAT on Earth? That was one of the thoughts that crossed my mind seeing your front page (LET, April 24) in the light of this 'Jackass' fiasco.

Upon seeing the picture I at first thought someone had been knocked down, seriously injured or killed.

Then, words really did fail me when I read the report and discovered the boy's mother was driving the the car.

Driving a car at ANY speed can cause serious damage or death. Especially to a young child or elderly person. I am sorry but you cannot 'edit, pause or even rewind' someone involved in a real car accident as this stupid, stupid act spoofs in the most crass manner imaginable?

These people seem to become sudden experts in subjects they clearly no little or nothing about when they pathetically attempt to defend their actions. THEIR actions NOT those of a TV programme. Again I stress that fact!

I am sorry but this 'blame everyone else but ourselves' culture has gone to the point of insanity.

No-one forced or coerced those involved in these stupid, incredibly moronic acts of self-harm -- for that is what they are -- upon themselves?

Let's not take the 'easy' option and blame something we see on television. We must MAKE those responsible take responsibility.

I have no sympathy for anyone who would do this sort of thing.
