LANCASHIRE trade unions are campaigning against the British National Party and racist political groups in preparation for the forthcoming local and European elections on June 10.
Trade union councils are taking part in protests to stop racists being elected to borough and county councils, and the European Parliament.
Peter Billington, secretary of Lancashire Association of Trade Union Councils, said: "The trade union movement in Lancashire is opposed to racist political parties, such as the BNP.
"These people are stirring up trouble for their own ends.
"They have an appalling record of support for Nazi ideas, such as opposition to mixed marriages, and the view that disabled people are second-class citizens.
"We will be providing resources and support for local trade unionists, to help expose the ugly attitudes of these people.
