AT Culcheth WI's meeting Mrs Pat Forrest welcomed members and a visitor and thanked Mrs Margaret Hampson for the table flowers.
She welcomed the arrival of spring and reminded members who are in the gift aid scheme that any changes in their intentions should be notified.
Mrs Chris Vout reminded members of the branch's 18th birthday which will be celebrated in June with an afternoon tea. To mark the occasion a silver president's brooch has been purchased. Mrs Forrest thanked the Institute on behalf of herself and future presidents.
Mrs Jill Scattergood went to Denman College and enjoyed a course on Mount Mellick embroidery, which is worked with white thread on white cloth and originated in Ireland, and brought examples to show members.
The group outing in June will be to Powis Castle and on July 20 there is a day trip to the Lake District.
The meeting will reveal the ancient history of Warburton and on May 10 the literacy group marks its second birthday with a talk by Miss Audrey Smale on "The Priest and the Novelist". Everyone is welcome and there will be a sale of second hand books.
After tea Mrs Forrest introduced dentist Dr Helen Ash, who decided that as her own personal millennium project she would join a Voluntary Service overseas project and go to China.
Mrs Olive Lee thanked her on behalf of members.
The resolutions' meeting is next at 2pm on May 18 in the Parish Hall.
