IT may look like just another terrace house in East Lancashire - but the price tag puts it among Darwen's most expensive properties.
Only last year, Darwen was singled-out for falling property prices in a report. But a four-storey stone terrace house in Belgrave Road has been put up for sale by estate agents Your Move for offers over £225,000.
The house comes with six bedrooms and off-street parking. But the buyers will have adjoining houses either side, a small front garden and a rear yard, and will be a stone's throw from the town centre.
The house has an entrance room, lounge, dining room, a kitchen/breakfast room, utility room and store room, converted cellar and attic. There is a master bedroom and three further bedrooms on the first floor, as well as two more bedrooms on the second floor.
A spokesman for Your Move said today: "The price reflects the exceptional features including six bedrooms, store room and cellar incorporating a bar, along with many period features which together we believe have to be viewed to fully appreciate the property's appeal."
Belgrave Road neighbourJane Mather bought her home with husband David four years ago for £70,000. Regarding the price for No 53, she said: "We couldn't believe it."
The price tag also astonished shoppers shown a photograph and description of the house.
Pensioner Ronald Norris, of Vernon Street, said: "I know property is expensive but that's amazing. Surely not a lot of people can afford that."
Barbara Woodward, 63, of Avondale, said: "If I was paying that much, I'd want at least decent-size gardens."
Nancy Kelly, 54, of Dean Street, Darwen, said: "You'd want a place on your own in the middle of the countryside for that."
