AN EXERCISE in bulb-planting is paying off with more than half a million daffodils flourishing around Leigh.
More than 650,000 bulbs were planted as part of last year's Cleaner Greener Borough venture between Wigan Council, Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust and Wigan Rotary Club.
Street Scene boss Paul Dandy says: "We are delighted with the results. The displays mark a 'new spring' in the way we are making our borough a cleaner, greener place to live and work."
Rotarian Phil Hurst added: "It's very satisfying to see that our hard work has made such a positive improvement to the area. I'd like to thank our volunteer hand planters from
the Rotary Club and the Youth Offending Team."
