TALENTED entertainer and much-travelled Irishman Colum Sands will appear at Leigh Folk Club's next meeting.
Singer, songwriter and raconteur Colum is a member of the internationally renowned Sands family from County Down. He released his first solo album in 1981 and some of his songs became part of the repertoire of artists like Billy Connolly, Maddy Prior and June Tabor.
On his travels around the world, Colum soon discovered many of his songs had arrived before him, carried by other singers and on recordings by Andy Irvine, Tommy Makem, Liam Clancy, Roy Bailey and a host of others.
His songs have universal appeal as have the tales which contain his observances of the minute and humorous details of life.
Tickets for the show on Friday which begins at 8.15pm in Leigh Conservative Club, Railway Road, cost £6. Contact Pauline Dowsett on 01942 604603.
