PATRIOTS from throughout England made a bee-line for Atherton where St George's Day was celebrated in style.
The Railway pub in Bag Lane was turned into a national shrine with English flags fluttering and red and white ballooons everywhere as proud patrons raised money for Bulldog Rescue and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
With St George's beer on tap at £1.25 a pint, with 20p from each glass donated to charity, customers and staff wore red and white T-shirts and enjoyed a weekend of all kinds of English music.
Delia Graham, who runs the pub with her husband, Vic, said: "It was a really good weekend, everyone was very patriotic and just generally enjoying themselves. We were very pleased."
And Caroline Lawton, co-organiser of the event, said: "There was a bouncy castle for the kids all day and raffles to raise the money for charity, one of the prizes was a large teddy...it was nearly as big as me!"
