FORMER Burnley defender Steve Davis could be a summer transfer target for Accrington Stanley.
Reds boss John Coleman has made no secret of his frustrations with his side's defending on occasions this season, and has already stated he hopes to hold talks with a Second Division player in the coming weeks.
Ex-Clarets captain Davis signed for Blackpool following his release from Turf Moor last summer.
But with former Burnley team-mate Paul Cook taking on a player-coach role at Stanley, the 35-year-old could be lured back to East Lancashire.
Meanwhile, Stanley manager John Coleman believes there could be more departures from the club this week.
Six have already parted company with the Reds, and Coleman says more could follow Dean Calcutt, Andy Gouck, Gordon Armstrong, John Durnin, Jerome Fitzgerald and Kieran Killackey out of the Interlink Express Stadium.
The Stanley chief held further discussions with several first team players after last night's reserve game, which the Reds lost 4-3 at home to Barrow despite leading 3-1 in the second half.
But he admitted that deals for a number of players had still to be ironed out.
"I've spoken to one or two players and we'll have to see what develops," he said.
"Maybe one or two more are going to go, but we'll sort it out this week."
Coleman said the uncertainty surrounds players who have yet to accept the deals they have been offered.
Doubts remain over the future of goalkeeper Jamie Speare, one of the players who has yet to agree terms.
But Coleman admitted he wasn't in a position to increase the initial deals that have been handed out.
"Some of the players may accept, some of them are a bit disappointed with what they've been offered and probably won't take it," he said.
"We've just got to get on with it. We've got to improve, the players who come in have got to battle for places and try to get us where we want to be in the Conference."
